Manuka Honey is made in Australia and New Zealand by bees that pollinate the native manuka bush.
When bees pollinate from this plant, their honey is more potent. Manuka Bush has a higher concentration of methylglyoxal (MGO). The more MGO there is in the honey, the more antiviral and antibacterial properties it has. This helps to fight bad bacteria that want to infect pores and create acne. Manuka Honey also has anti-inflammatory effects which will reduce inflammation associated with acne, and will therefore make existing breakouts look less red and swollen, and can prevent more pimples from forming.
Honey is acidic and has a pH between 3.2 and 4.5. Acidic properties of honey will help to heal the scars from acne. Honey is also very hydrating, which helps to nourish the skin especially if your skin has dried out by using acne treatment products.
I put Manuka Honey directly on my face to help fight the acne on my face. I cover the area with a thin layer of honey and leave it on for about 30min. You can leave it on for more than an hour. Wash it of with warm water and pat skin dry.
Do not use if you’re allergic to honey, bees or pollen.
